Growing Something Good

Some of the best moments don’t happen in a rush—they happen one small step at a time.

This morning I spent a few quiet minutes clipping fresh rosemary from my porch. I love that rosemary adds wonderful flavor to meals, and its fresh, woodsy aroma makes the whole porch feel welcoming.

It reminded me that the things we care for often give something back to us. Whether it’s a plant, a friendship, or a dream, growth happens little by little.

Today, I’m grateful for simple moments, fresh herbs, and faithful little companions like Zion. 🌿🐾

... Read moreGrowing rosemary on my porch has been more than just cultivating an herb garden; it’s become a mindful ritual that enriches both my cooking and my well-being. The process of gently clipping fresh rosemary each morning not only fills the air with its calming, woodsy aroma but also reminds me to slow down and appreciate gradual progress. Rosemary is a hardy herb that thrives well with minimal maintenance, making it perfect for beginners and seasoned gardeners alike. I’ve found that growing it in pots allows flexibility to move it into sunlight or shelter it during colder days, ensuring a robust and fragrant plant year-round. Using fresh rosemary in meals elevates flavors, from roasted vegetables to homemade bread, adding a herbal touch that’s far superior to dried variants. Beyond the culinary benefits, tending to rosemary connects me with nature’s rhythms and the rewarding patience required for growth. This little act of care creates a comforting space on my porch where I can pause, reflect, and rejuvenate. It’s a daily reminder that nurturing any part of life—be it a plant, a relationship, or a personal dream—demands consistency and love, yet returns so much more in fulfillment. I also cherish the quiet companionship of my dog Zion during these moments, whose peaceful presence complements the serene atmosphere. These shared experiences—between the herb, my reflections, and faithful furry friend—make each day richer and more meaningful. For those looking to start their own herb garden, rosemary is incredibly rewarding. Start with a healthy plant, ensure it gets plenty of sunlight, and water it moderately without overdoing it. Watching it grow little by little echoes the gentle growth of other meaningful parts of life, perfectly captured in my quiet mornings spent clipping fresh rosemary.

🌿 Growing What God Planted: Walking in the Fruits of the Spirit
There’s something so powerful about slowing down and really looking at the Fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22–23). These aren’t just “good qualities” to try on when life is easy, this is the evidence of God actively working in us. Love that chooses others even when it’s inconvenient (John 15:12).
