My Current Read
Coming back to reading feels like coming home.
Life happened- school, marriage, motherhood and somewhere along the way, I stopped making time for the books I used to love. My mom would bring home books for me every day, and that’s how I fell in love with reading. Now as a mom myself, I want my son to have that same love for books.
So I’m starting again. Not just for him, but for me too.
First up: The Black Girl’s Guide to Financial Freedom by Paris Woods. Building the life I want to give my family starts with learning, and I’m ready to turn these pages.
What’s a book that brought you back to reading? 📚✨
Getting back into reading can be a transformative experience, especially when life’s many responsibilities pull us in different directions. For many, like in this journey described, balancing school, marriage, and parenthood often means putting personal hobbies on hold. Yet returning to books can feel like returning home, providing comfort, inspiration, and growth. A great way to rekindle a passion for reading is selecting books that resonate with your current goals. For example, "The Black Girl’s Guide to Financial Freedom" by Paris Woods not only offers practical financial advice but also empowers readers to build a secure future for themselves and their families. This book is perfect for anyone looking to take control of their finances and learn strategies tailored especially for Black women. Moreover, fostering a love for reading in children can start by sharing your own love of books. Parents who re-embrace reading often inspire their kids to develop healthy reading habits themselves, creating a legacy of learning and imagination. If you’re looking to restart your reading journey, here are some tips: - Choose books that connect with your current life stage or aspirations. - Set aside dedicated reading time daily, even if it’s just 10 minutes. - Join reading communities or forums, like those on Lemon8, to share and gain recommendations. - Keep a reading journal to track your favorite quotes and reflections. What book brought you back to reading? Sharing stories not only builds community but encourages others to pick up their next favorite book. Remember, every page turned is a step toward new knowledge, self-growth, and joy.
