Swift Police Response Leads to Arrest After Wrong-Way Collision in Montreal

Monday morning, 911 dispatch received a call reporting a head-on collision on Wilderton Avenue between Bates and Jean-Talon. A Toyota RAV4 had been traveling the wrong way before crashing just inches from the busy railroad tracks.

Two suspects—a male and female, both in their 20s—fled the scene on foot. A Riot Intervention Police unit, which was nearby, quickly responded and was the first to arrive. With the help of a good Samaritan who witnessed the incident, officers were able to track the suspects down about 500 meters away on Bates Street. The officers detained them until additional police units arrived.

The driver of the other vehicle sustained injuries, but fortunately, they were not life-threatening. Following a brief investigation, authorities confirmed that the Toyota RAV4 had been stolen.
