May Reading Recap 🫶🏽

Don’t mind that I’m a week late on this 🤣

This month, I was able to finish five books, bring my total to 14 for the year! Here’s my thoughts…💭

(As always, please check triggers and take care of yourself.) 💞

1. Excuse Me While I Ugly Cry - Joya Goffney

Genre: YA Romance

My rating: 5/5⭐️

This was such a cute read! I was able to relate with a lot of what Quinn goes through. The ending is kind of predictable, but it still took a twist too. For it being a YA novel, it hits on some hard topics too.

2. The Summer of Broken Rules - K.L Walther

Genre: Contemporary romance

My rating: 4.5/5⭐️

Also a cute read! Perfect summer vibes, the insta-love trope, etc. There were some times I did want to square up with Meredith, but Wit has my whole heart. And the Swiftie references? Love it!

3. November 9 - Colleen Hoover

Genre: Romance

My rating: 4/5⭐️

This was actually my first CoHo novel ever. While I did like this book (for the most part), there were a few things I wasn’t a fan of for sure. I did like the plot though, it was pretty unique. Go into this one blind if you decide to read it.

4. Icebreaker - Hannah Grace

Genre: Hockey romance

My rating: 4.5/5⭐️

Nate my beloved. 🫶🏽

I honestly didn’t expect to like this as much as I did, but this was so cute. It had me giggling like a little girl. I love a golden retriever MMC. And the spicy scenes?? 😮‍💨

5. Dead of Winter - Darcy Coates

Genre: Horror/thriller

My rating: 4.5/5⭐️

This book honestly terrified me cause what the hell. I didn’t expect it to be so graphic either, I thought it would be just a simple thriller LOL. All the twists and turns were so good, the book was perfectly paced, and I definitely did NOT see that ending coming.

I have a separate post coming with a review for November 9 because I have a LOT to say about that book.

What’s on your June TBR? :)

... Read moreIn May, I journeyed through a diverse array of book genres, exploring everything from the heartwarming YA romance of 'Excuse Me While I Ugly Cry' to the thrilling twists of 'Dead of Winter.' Each book served a unique purpose in my reading adventure, not only expanding my literary horizons but also evoking a spectrum of emotions. Starting with Joya Goffney's 'Excuse Me While I Ugly Cry,' this is a relatable coming-of-age story that resonates deeply with its readers. Its treatment of mental health issues allows for a genuine connection. On the other hand, 'The Summer of Broken Rules' by K.L. Walther is a delightful contemporary romance, perfect for summer reading with its sweet characters and nostalgic vibes. Colleen Hoover's 'November 9' presented unique plot elements that kept me engaged, despite some aspects that didn’t resonate as well. However, 'Icebreaker' by Hannah Grace surprised me with its humor and charm, showcasing a beautiful hockey romance infused with spiciness. Lastly, 'Dead of Winter' by Darcy Coates pushed my boundaries, offering thrilling suspense and expertly woven surprises. Whether you're looking for romance, humor, or suspense, this month’s selection has something for every type of reader. What are you planning to read in June? Let’s share our TBR lists and encourage one another in our reading journeys!
