My 1st Queer Iftar

Attending my first Queer Iftar was truly a transformative experience. For many of us, spaces that embrace both queer identity and Muslim faith are rare, so coming together to observe Ramadan created a powerful sense of belonging. The event, held on March 13th, 2026 at Amader Daunt, was a vibrant gathering that combined tradition with inclusivity. Breaking the fast alongside others who share similar journeys felt deeply meaningful. The atmosphere was filled with warmth and acceptance, as attendees united in prayer and celebration. It was inspiring to see how the Iftar could bridge diverse backgrounds, emphasizing the shared values of spirituality and community. What stood out to me was the genuine openness during conversations, where people exchanged stories about their faith, identity, and experiences navigating both. It highlighted the importance of creating safe spaces where queer Muslims can express themselves fully without judgment. Reflecting on this Iftar, I realize how essential it is for more communities to come together in this way, fostering understanding and breaking stereotypes. Celebrating Ramadan in such an inclusive environment not only nourishes the body but also the soul, reaffirming that faith and identity can coexist beautifully.
