... Read moreWhen I first started my journey in social media management, I felt like I was constantly playing catch-up. The landscape changes so fast, right? That's why I quickly realized that listening to industry podcasts wasn't just a leisure activity; it became an essential part of my professional development. They're like having a mentor in your ear, offering real-time insights and strategies that you won't always find in textbooks. Let me tell you about a few of my absolute favorites, especially those that truly helped me level up. If you're looking to dive deep into the creator economy, Call Her Creator is an absolute game-changer. I’ve personally found their episodes on empowering creators with social media and business advice incredibly motivating. It's not just about algorithms; it's about building a sustainable brand, which is something I constantly strive for. Then there's Social Media Manager Confidential with Shanté Gorman. As an SMM, I can't stress enough how crucial it is to have resources tailored specifically for our role. Shanté offers practical advice and helps you navigate the unique challenges of our profession, like staying creative under pressure – a topic I know many of us struggle with! And, of course, no list would be complete without the Social Media Marketing Podcast by Michael Stelzner. This one has been a staple for me since almost the beginning. Publishing weekly since 2012, Michael and his guests tackle everything from the latest platform updates to evergreen strategies. It’s perfect for truly understanding how to navigate the industry and even to challenge existing notions, as one episode title suggests, "Forget Everything You Know." This podcast helps marketers adapt and thrive. I also want to give a shout-out to The Inspired Media Podcast led by Alyssa Chan-Evangelista. If content creation and entrepreneurship are big parts of your social media strategy, you'll find incredible value here. And for a broader look at marketing trends and career insights, Marketing Happy Hour with Erica & Cassie brings in top marketing experts sharing their secrets. Finally, the SocialPros Podcast offers a dose of reality, focusing on what real social media work looks like on the ground, making it incredibly relatable. Choosing the right podcast really depends on where you are in your journey. Are you just starting out and need the social media 101 basics? Or are you a seasoned pro looking for advanced strategies? I recommend listening to a few episodes from different shows to find the hosts whose style and content resonate most with you. Don't forget that many of these podcasts also offer valuable show notes and resources on their websites, which I often use to dig even deeper into a topic. My biggest tip for maximizing your listening experience is to actively apply what you learn. Don't just passively listen! If you hear a strategy that sparks an idea, pause, make a note, and think about how you can integrate it into your own social media efforts or for your clients. That's how you truly transform passive listening into active growth. Let me know which ones you've tried and what you think!
