IS FUHANG SOY MILK WORTH THE QUEUE? 🤔

If you’re wondering whether this Michelin Star Taiwanese breakfast spot is worth the forever-snaking queue… I had the same question - so I tried it for myself 🤔🫣

⏰ Opening hours:

5.30am - 12.30pm (Closed Mondays)

🕘 Best time to go:

Weekdays before 10am

⏳ Wait time: ~ 20 - 45 minutes

👉 Go early to avoid items selling out 🤯

🍽 What I ordered:

鹹豆漿 (Salty soy milk)

◇ 油条 (Youtiao / fried dough sticks)

💬 Verdict: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Personally, I wouldn’t queue more than 20 minutes for this 🥹

The salty soymilk was an acquired taste, not for everyone, but I personally enjoyed it! The youtiao however, was a total letdown 😭 As a youtiao lover, I found it lacking in flavour and overwhelmingly greasy, essentially an oil-soaked sponge. I couldn’t even finish half of it :( I’ll probably stick to our usual favourites in Singapore instead 🤪

... Read moreVisiting Fuhang Soy Milk is almost like a pilgrimage for food enthusiasts craving authentic Taiwanese breakfast. Beyond the salty soy milk and youtiao, the menu offers various other traditional delights such as thin pancakes, egg wraps, and fried dough sticks stuffed inside different types of pancakes, as revealed by the shop’s menu displayed prominently inside the store. This long-established eatery located on the 2nd floor of a Taipeian building opens early at 5:30 am and closes by 12:30 pm, except on Mondays when it’s closed. For a smoother experience, it’s highly recommended to arrive on weekdays before 10 am to avoid long queues and potential sell-outs, since the wait can range from 20 to 45 minutes or even longer during peak times. If you’re a fan of youtiao, you might find the version here quite different from what you might expect, as some visitors note that it tends to be quite oily and less flavorful compared to other local favorites. On the other hand, salty soy milk is considered an acquired taste, drawing mixed reactions but also loyal admirers who appreciate its unique savory profile. Having tried it myself, pairing the salty soy milk with a freshly fried youtiao can be nostalgic but also tells a lot about local breakfast culture which blends simplicity with tradition. This spot has preserved its original recipes since the 1950s, maintaining a historical charm that many tourists and locals cherish. When exploring Taipei’s food scene, visiting a Michelin-recommended place like Fuhang Soy Milk adds to the cultural experience, even if it means waiting in line and managing personal taste expectations. Overall, if you appreciate Taiwanese breakfast traditions and don’t mind queuing, Fuhang Soy Milk is worth trying at least once. However, as with many iconic eateries, personal taste may vary, so it’s useful to manage expectations and to explore other local options as well for a fuller culinary adventure in Taipei.

Honestly, I came here because a friend wouldn't stop raving about it. We hit the dinner rush and waited about 30 minutes, which had me wondering: Is the hype actually real? Short answer: YES. 💯 If your knowledge of Vietnamese food starts and ends with Pho, you are seriously missing out. T
