Traveling from MRS to Mommy 🎀

... Read moreAs I'm excitedly counting down the months to becoming a 'Mommy 2 Be' and welcoming our little one, I've been thinking so much about this incredible journey. From that first 'REVEALING MY PREGNANCY' moment, every day feels like a step closer to meeting our baby. It's a truly special time, and my fiancé and I are soaking up every bit of it before our lives beautifully change with a 'baby on the way!' One of the things that kept popping up in my mind, and something many new parents-to-be consider, is a babymoon. It’s that last hurrah, a romantic or relaxing getaway designed just for you and your partner before your family expands. Think of it as a final, peaceful retreat to reconnect, enjoy each other's company, and simply relax before all the amazing chaos of parenthood begins. It's a chance to celebrate your relationship and the exciting new chapter you're about to embark on. When planning our own babymoon, a few things came to mind. First, timing is key! Most experts suggest going during your second trimester, typically between weeks 14 and 28 (around when I was 10w5d, I was already dreaming!). This is usually when morning sickness has subsided, and you still have plenty of energy before the third-trimester fatigue sets in. Second, think about what kind of trip you both need. Is it a relaxing spa weekend, an adventurous nature escape, or perhaps a cozy city break with good food? Speaking of city breaks, if you're like some friends I know who are also expecting and looking for ideas, a place like Murfreesboro, Tennessee, might just surprise you! While it might not be the first place that comes to mind for a traditional 'babymoon trip,' it actually offers a lovely blend of history, nature, and local charm that could be perfect for a relaxed pre-baby getaway. Imagine strolling through Stones River National Battlefield for some gentle exercise and history, or exploring the quaint shops downtown. You could enjoy a leisurely brunch at a local cafe or even catch a show at the Murfreesboro Center for the Arts. There are also plenty of beautiful parks like Barfield Crescent Park for a peaceful walk or a picnic. It's less about the hustle and bustle and more about quiet quality time together, which is exactly what a babymoon should be. For accommodations, you could look for a charming bed and breakfast or a comfortable hotel with amenities like a pool or spa services if available. The beauty of a babymoon in a place like Murfreesboro is that it's often more affordable and less stressful than an international trip, allowing you to focus on each other without the added travel fatigue. No matter where you choose, remember the goal is to create lasting memories and enjoy this unique period of anticipation. Pack comfortable clothes, bring your favorite pregnancy pillow if you need it, and don't forget to take lots of photos – you'll cherish them forever! Our little one will be here in 2025, and having these memories beforehand feels incredibly important. It's all part of this wonderful journey transforming from Mrs. to Mommy!
