Better Late Than Never 🤣
It’s been a hectic year so finally almost halfway through December we got our tree up 😂🤣 #xmas2024 #momsoflemon8 #treedecorating #chaotic #Lemon8Diary
Oh my goodness, can anyone else relate to the mad dash of getting the Christmas tree up, sometimes way later than planned? As a fellow busy bee, I completely get it! This year felt like a whirlwind, and before we knew it, December was almost halfway over, and our living room was still missing that festive sparkle. But hey, 'better late than never' truly is the motto for us moms, isn't it? When we finally did set aside the time, it was exactly what you'd expect from a family affair – a beautiful, chaotic mess! One minute we're untangling lights, the next, someone is almost tripping over the box of baubles. My nephew, who usually thinks he's 'too cool for family activities' and prefers 'sitting off to the side,' even got roped in. Of course, it wasn't long before we caught him 'juggling the ornaments' – talk about an 'uh oh a casualty' waiting to happen with our precious decorations! But honestly, those are the moments that make it truly memorable. If you're like me and often find yourself racing against the clock (or just life in general!) to get your holiday decor up, here are a few things I've learned to embrace the mayhem and still make it special: Lower Your Expectations (Just a Little!): Forget the picture-perfect trees you see online. Focus on fun! If the lights are a bit wonky or a few branches are bare, who cares? It's about the feeling, not the flawless display. Delegate (Even the Silly Stuff): Get everyone involved, even if it means some misplaced ornaments or a little extra glitter cleanup. My little ones love hanging the unbreakable ornaments, and even the 'too cool' nephew eventually found his rhythm, despite his initial reluctance. Let them 'come decorate the tree with us...' even if it means letting go of some control. Make it a Mini-Event: Put on some festive music, brew some hot cocoa, or even order a pizza. Turning it into a cozy family activity, rather than a chore, makes all the difference. It helps everyone relax and enjoy the process. Embrace the Imperfections: That slightly crooked star? The ornament that keeps falling off? Those are the stories you'll tell for years! Our 'casualty' moments often become the funniest memories later. It's About the Memories: At the end of the day, it's not about when the tree goes up or how perfect it looks. It's about the laughter, the togetherness, and creating those precious family traditions, no matter how chaotic they might seem at the time. So, if your tree is still in its box, or if your decorating process is more comedy than calm, know you're not alone! Just dive in, make some memories, and let that festive spirit shine!
