🍋My career switch changed my life👇

Three years ago I took a huge leap of faith and completely switched careers and quit my old job and I haven’t looked back since! I’m lucky enough that this was such a positive thing for me as it’s not always that way but these are the reasons why it made sense for me to quit my manager and mortgage loan officer job during the peak of home buying times for something completely different.

1) the company I worked for promised they would transfer me closer to home once a position became available (I was commuting an hour plus each way) and when one did and I requested a straight across transfer they declined it. One broken promise is only going to lead to more.

2) I was feeling burnt out and no longer enjoyed what I did, I dreaded waking up each morning and got out of work as fast as I could - huge red flag looking back!

3) more work/life balance - I went from a salaried employee back to an hourly employee with my new job and no longer had to give “free” time. Plus it was half the distance my previous job was and my commute now has no traffic while my old commute was driving through downtown!

4) I did not have support from my superiors. I had asked my manager several times for simple things to make my job and my team’s job easier and he would not do it.

Overall going from a branch manager/mortgage loan officer to a deputy recorder at the county level has been the best decision and I have enjoyed the last 3 years so much more than I thought! I also found a job I never thought I would like so much and have the best coworkers I could ask for.

Sometimes it’s worth taking the leap of faith… at least for me it was ❤️🙌

After reassessing my work-life balance, I decided to step away from my previous role that left me burnt out and unfulfilled. The commute challenges and lack of support from management significantly affected my well-being. Transitioning to a role that offered more flexibility allowed me to reclaim my time and happiness. It’s crucial to recognize the early signs of job dissatisfaction and take proactive steps for a healthier work environment. For others on the brink of a career change, seeking support from mentors or professionals can provide valuable insights. Networking in your desired field can also open doors and give you courage to follow your passion. Remember, it’s never too late to pursue a career that truly resonates with your values and aspirations. Trust your instincts and take that leap of faith; you might just find your dream job waiting for you.
