don’t start healing until you can answer these 12 questions about your ADHD

4/28 Edited to

... Read moreFrom personal experience, realizing whether my ADHD brain was running me or I was running it made a huge difference in how I approached daily tasks. These 12 questions are incredibly practical because they pinpoint common ADHD challenges like task switching, procrastination, and sensory overwhelm. For instance, I’ve often found myself seeking quick dopamine hits from my phone or snacks rather than focusing on important work, which echoes question 3. Recognizing this helped me consciously set limits on distractions and incorporate timed breaks to reset my focus. Environmental factors such as clutter and noise can sneakily contribute to distractions (question 6). I started organizing my workspace and minimizing tabs on my browser, which drastically reduced overwhelm. Hydration and sleep (question 7) are easy to overlook but critical—on days I neglected these basics, my focus and emotional control suffered noticeably. Time perception distortion (question 8) was another eye-opener; I used to underestimate how long tasks took, leading to frustration. Using timers and realistic planning became essential tools. Lastly, emotional reactivity (question 9) is common with ADHD and recognizing it helped me develop self-compassion and stress management strategies. Answering these questions honestly guides you toward tailored coping techniques and reminds you that healing isn’t linear. It's about understanding your unique ADHD patterns and building routines that empower, not hinder your brain’s potential.

ADHD OR PTSD(trauma response)???
In a lot of podcasts, talk shows, tiktoks etc people seem to always link ADHD with a childhood trauma. Me being diagnosed with severe ADHD and no childhood trauma, it really caused me to wonder if I was blocking out something.🥲 I thought I had a great childhood. I feel my parents did their best.
