NEVER GETTING MARRIED REASON 65

I've been on a journey of self-discovery lately, and honestly, the thought of getting married just doesn't resonate with me. It’s not about being anti-love or anti-commitment, but rather about prioritizing a life where my growth, my career, and my personal adventures take center stage without the traditional constraints that often come with marriage. I've seen friends navigate the complexities of balancing their own aspirations with a spouse's, and while it works beautifully for many, I’ve realized my current vision for happiness requires an unencumbered journey. This means being able to pick up and move for a new opportunity, spend my money exactly how I see fit, and dedicate my time to passions without needing to factor someone else's schedule or desires into every major decision. It's a big decision, and it’s one that often comes with a lot of questions from well-meaning family and friends. "When are you going to settle down?" "Don't you want kids?" "Who will take care of you when you're old?" These are common refrains for anyone choosing to remain unmarried. But I've learned that 'settling down' looks different for everyone. For me, it's settling into myself, building a strong community of friends, and finding joy in my independence. Beyond my 'Reason 65,' there are so many valid reasons why people choose not to get married, and it's a conversation we need to have more openly. Some find immense fulfillment in their careers, dedicating their energy to professional growth. Others prioritize financial independence, preferring to manage their assets and future without joint accounts or shared responsibilities. Then there are those who've simply seen enough difficult marriages to know it's not for them, or perhaps they've experienced past relationships that left them wary of the institution. For many, it's also about rejecting traditional societal pressures, realizing that a fulfilling life doesn't require a spouse to be complete. The idea of living authentically, rather than conforming to an outdated norm, is incredibly powerful. Embracing the choice to be NEVER GETTING MARRIED offers a unique set of benefits. There's an unparalleled sense of autonomy – the freedom to make all your own decisions, from what to eat for dinner to where to travel next year. It fosters self-reliance and allows for deep self-reflection and personal development. You learn to be your own best company, to build resilience, and to cultivate a rich social life outside of a coupled dynamic. Of course, it's not without its challenges. Loneliness can creep in, especially when navigating social events where everyone else is coupled up. There's also the persistent societal judgment, the feeling that you're somehow 'less than' or incomplete without a partner. But I've found that surrounding myself with supportive people who respect my choices, and actively seeking out communities that celebrate diverse life paths, makes all the difference. It's about redefining what a successful and happy life looks like, on my own terms.
