don't look back 🪞
When God struck down Sodom and Gomorrah, He gave one clear instruction: Don’t look back.
But Lot’s wife did.
Just one glance. That’s all it took.
And she turned to salt — frozen in place, stuck between the freedom ahead and the destruction behind.
How many of us are living that same moment?
We’ve walked away from our past, but we keep looking back.
Back at the mistakes.
Back at the labels.
Back at the lies.
And every time we do, something inside us freezes — like we’re not fully free to step into the new life God has called us to.
But Jesus didn’t die for you to stay stuck in your shame.
He didn’t rise so you could keep replaying your worst moments.
He came to make you new.
"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!"
— Isaiah 43:18–19 (paraphrased)
You are not the addiction.
You are not the betrayal.
You are not the failure, the reputation, or the name they gave you.
You are His.
And He’s not calling you to glance back — He’s calling you to go forward.
Don’t let your past have more power than your purpose.
Don’t be like Lot’s wife. Don’t get stuck in a story God already pulled you out of.
What’s something from your past you’re ready to stop looking back at?

#FromSinnerToSaved
Many of us struggle with the challenge of leaving the past behind completely, even when we deeply want to move forward. I experienced this myself—constantly revisiting old mistakes and regrets, which kept me stuck emotionally. What really helped me was focusing on the truth that "YOU ARE NOT YOUR PAST"—a phrase that speaks volumes. When I reminded myself that my identity is not defined by failures or what others labeled me, I gradually found peace and strength to embrace the new path ahead. Incorporating faith into this process was transformative. Scriptures like Isaiah 43:18-19 inspired me to stop dwelling on former things and trust that something new was unfolding in my life. This isn’t about ignoring responsibility but about not letting the past hold power over my choices and future. It’s also important to actively engage in daily practices like prayer, journaling, or talking openly with trusted friends or communities who support your journey without judgment. The hashtag movements such as #DontLookBack and #YouAreNotYourPast offer online spaces where people share their stories and encourage each other. For those curious about symbols that represent this journey, some adopt the "Sodom and Gomorrah" tattoo, not to glorify destruction but as a reminder of leaving behind what no longer serves us. This visual symbol can be a powerful marker of transformation and freedom discovered through faith. Ultimately, the key is to consciously choose to walk forward. Every time you feel the urge to look back, remind yourself: you are called to a new life, free from being frozen in past pain or mistakes—just like Lot’s wife was instructed but did not obey. You deserve to live fully in that freedom.
