True Worship Will Cost You Something 🫰🏽
When we hear “worship,” most of us think about church: lights, music, a band singing our favorite songs. But real worship goes way deeper. It’s not just singing when the vibe feels right. It’s giving God something that actually costs us.
In 1 Chronicles 21:24, King David was offered land and animals for free to make a sacrifice to God. Easy deal, right? But David said no. He told the man, “I will not offer burnt offerings to the Lord my God that cost me nothing.”
That’s worship—sacrifice. Something you feel. Something that hurts a little.
We’ve turned worship into comfort. We think it’s raising a hand during a song, or putting on Christian music in the car. Those can be good—but if that’s all it is, it’s cheap.
Real worship is sacrifice. For you, maybe it’s:
Choosing to forgive someone who hurt you instead of holding on to hate.
Giving up a night of scrolling or smoking to spend time in prayer.
Saying no to a toxic relationship because you want to follow God, even when it feels lonely.
Helping someone in need, even when your own life feels messy.
You don’t have to be in a church building to worship. Worship happens when you give something up for God because He’s worth it.
So let me ask you: When’s the last time worship actually cost you something?
👉 Cheap worship is easy. Costly worship is love.
