It Wasn’t One Big Thing It Was All the Small One

People always recognize the trauma response… but they don’t always remember the trauma.

And that’s the part that makes healing so confusing.

Because sometimes it wasn’t a single big moment.

It wasn’t a clear “this is when everything changed.”

It was slow.

It was subtle.

It was years of being told to calm down, be good, be useful.

It was learning that expressing pain made people uncomfortable.

That needing too much made you hard to love.

That the safest thing to do was shrink — emotionally, energetically, even physically.

You don’t always remember the exact wound.

But your body does.

Your nervous system does.

Your patterns do.

That’s why healing can feel like grief for something you don’t have the words for.

Because you’re not just recovering from what happened —

You’re recovering from who you had to become just to survive it.

But here’s the hope:

You don’t need to fully remember it to begin healing.

You just need to notice the response.

The reflex.

The shutdown.

The overworking.

The over-explaining.

The fear of being “too much.”

That noticing? That’s the beginning of freedom.

That’s you saying, “This isn’t who I am. This is who I had to be.”

📚 If this speaks to you, The Body Keeps the Score and What Happened to You? are two books that changed the way I saw my own story — and started rewriting it.

💬 You’re not broken. You’re remembering yourself

... Read moreTrauma doesn't always shout; often, it whispers through years of conditioning. Many people experience what is termed 'slow trauma,' where subtle, quiet moments lead to deeply ingrained behaviors that feel like second nature. Recognizing these patterns is the first step toward healing. It's not just about identifying the specific incidents that caused pain; it's about understanding how those experiences shaped your identity. You may have learned to suppress your emotions, shrink your needs, or even mold yourself into what you believed others wanted you to be. This often results in a complex relationship with self-love and acceptance. Books like 'The Body Keeps the Score' provide valuable insights into how unrecognized trauma affects your body and mind, urging you to uncover the hidden wounds you've might have carried for years. Healing starts with recognizing that you are not defined by your trauma but can transform your responses and reclaim your narrative. Moreover, engaging in discussions about emotional growth, trauma responses, and self-awareness can foster a supportive community where you feel seen and heard. The journey to healing is a personal one, but shared experiences can be incredibly validating. Remember, it’s okay to not have all the answers and to seek help when navigating such complex feelings. You deserve to know the freedom of healing and the joy of remembering your true self.

Why getting a big tax refund isn’t a good thing 💵
Getting a big tax refund is a bad thing because that means that you overpaid throughout the year. If you don’t get a big tax refund, then that means you have money in your pocket throughout the whole year that you can spend however you want. You basically are giving the government an interest free
