What's Your Endo Story?
In 2023 I had a laparoscopy which is a major abdominal surgery for diagnosing endometriosis. My symptoms have been debilitating for years. I literally could not walk at times and I would lay in my bed for days in fetal position trying to fight off the pain.
Endometriosis is a disorder in which tissue that normally lines the uterus grows outside the uterus. With endometriosis, the tissue can be found anywhere in the body. Ovaries, fallopian tubes and intestines are some examples of where tissue can be found. There have also been reported cases of endometriosis being found on the heart, lungs, brain and even in the eye.
We don't know for sure how endometriosis travels through the body. One theory is that it travels through the blood system but there needs to be more research to confirm this.
