It's funny how quickly days turn into weeks, especially in grad school. My original post was from January, but honestly, the grind as a 2nd year PhD student rarely lets up! A typical 'day in my life' often starts later than I’d like, especially when I have a night class stretching into the evening. And after what often feels like a 'long a** day,' there’s nothing quite like looking forward to my favorite comfort food, like a warm bowl of Vietnamese nui soup. It’s those little moments of joy that keep me going during the intense 'beginning of the semester grind.' Beyond the books and lectures, building a comfortable and functional environment is key, though I admit my office, which I've had for 2 years, is still a work in progress! It's a reminder that not everything has to be perfect. Sometimes, it’s the small comforts, like a cozy Uniqlo cardigan gifted by a friend, that brighten up a winter day in the Midwest. And, of course, staying hydrated is a must – my Hydro Flask is always by my side, especially during those intense study sessions fueled by a good cup of Maxim coffee.
