Getting out my Feelings ✌🏾

I realized I was moving off emotions way more than I thought. Making quick decisions when I was overwhelmed, irritated, or just tired. Saying things fast. Doing things fast. Then sitting back like…yeah, that probably could’ve waited.

So lately I’ve been slowing myself down on purpose. Taking a breath before I respond. Sleeping on decisions instead of reacting right away. Letting my feelings pass before I decide what to do with them.

I even made myself a little reminder for those moments when I feel triggered or rushed…just something to help me pause and think things through. Nothing fancy. Just something that helps me move smarter instead of emotional.

I put it in my bio in case you need it too. No pressure at all , if you need it….it’s there. If not that’s ok too. 🫶🏾

If you’re in that same space, you’re not alone. We’re all figuring it out in real time. 🤍

... Read moreI've also noticed that reacting quickly out of emotion often leads to regret or missteps. One practical approach I’ve found useful is to create a personal pause ritual—whether it’s counting to ten, taking three deep breaths, or stepping away briefly. This practice helps me to distance myself from the intense emotion and gain perspective. Another thing that has really helped is writing down my feelings before making a decision. Sometimes putting thoughts on paper allows me to process them better and prevents impulsive actions. Over time, this has trained my brain to respond more thoughtfully. The reminder the author mentions—something simple to help pause—resonates deeply. For me, a small sticky note on my desk or a phone wallpaper message reading 'Stop Moving off Emotions' serves as a gentle nudge to slow down. It’s a subtle yet powerful way to change habits gradually. Also, I’ve realized that sharing these struggles with others fosters a sense of community and encouragement. Knowing you’re not alone in feeling overwhelmed or rushed makes the process less isolating. Everyone is figuring it out as they go, just like the author said. Overall, moving smarter instead of emotionally isn’t about perfection but progress. Taking intentional breaths, sleeping on decisions, and allowing feelings to pass naturally can transform how you live and interact daily. It’s a continual journey but worth every mindful step.
