How to get unstuck from fight/flight ➡️

If your body feels tired, wired, bloated, tense, foggy, and emotionally one inconvenience away from becoming a Victorian ghost…

You may not be lazy. You may not be broken. You may be stuck in survival mode. Fight-or-flight is supposed to be temporary. But modern life has a way of turning your nervous system into a smoke alarm with low batteries.

Start connecting the dots: your sleep, gut, mood, hormones, focus, and recovery are all downstream of how safe your body feels.

Nine Lives rule: Fix the baseline. Then become less haunted.

... Read moreFrom my personal experience, realizing that my body was stuck in a constant fight-or-flight state was a crucial turning point. Modern life bombards us with endless stressors, making our nervous system behave like a smoke alarm with low batteries—constantly on edge but unable to reset properly. One key step I took was focusing on restoring my baseline: improving sleep hygiene, supporting gut health, and managing emotional triggers. I learned to recognize that symptoms like feeling foggy, bloated, or wired were not signs of laziness or weakness, but clear signals that my body was stuck in survival mode. Using calming breathing exercises and mindful pauses during the day helped signal my nervous system that it was safe to relax. Tracking my sleep patterns and making changes to my nighttime routine also significantly improved how rested I felt. Another eye-opener was understanding the gut-brain axis—the communication between gut health and mental well-being. Incorporating anti-inflammatory foods and probiotics helped reduce digestive discomfort and, in parallel, improved my mood and focus. Addressing these interconnected systems helped me slowly escape chronic fight-or-flight and approach recovery with a more holistic mindset. If you feel overwhelmed, tense, or like a Victorian ghost haunting your own body, try to connect the dots: how your sleep, digestion, emotions, and hormone balance all influence each other. Fixing the baseline by prioritizing nervous system support can help ease burnout symptoms and move away from constant survival mode, resulting in greater resilience and well-being.
