... Read moreStarting your fitness journey after having a baby can feel incredibly daunting, especially when your body feels so different. I remember staring in the mirror, wondering if I'd ever feel strong again. But I want to share something truly important I learned: it's *never too late to start*. Whether your little one is a few months old or several years, your body deserves attention and healing. Many of us experience what's commonly called a 'mommy tummy' or issues with our pelvic floor after pregnancy and childbirth. Often, this is linked to Diastasis Recti, which is the separation of your abdominal muscles. It sounds scary, but with the right approach, you can absolutely work on healing and strengthening your core. The key is to start with the right exercises – the ones that support your recovery, rather than potentially making things worse. I learned that focusing on my core and pelvic floor was the absolute first step. Forget crunches or planks right away! Instead, I incorporated gentle, foundational movements. Here are some of the first exercises I found incredibly beneficial for my recovery: Pelvic Tilts: Lying on your back with knees bent, gently flatten your lower back into the floor by engaging your core, then release. This helps awaken your deep abdominal muscles. Try doing 3 sets of 10. Diaphragmatic Breathing (Belly Breathing) with TA Engagement: This is fundamental. Lie down, place one hand on your chest and one on your belly. Inhale deeply, allowing your belly to rise. As you exhale, gently draw your belly button towards your spine, engaging your transverse abdominis (TA) – imagine hugging your baby with your abs. Kegel Exercises (Pelvic Floor Lifts): It’s not just for preventing leaks! These strengthen the muscles that support your uterus, bladder, and bowel. Imagine you're trying to stop the flow of urine or hold back gas; lift and squeeze those muscles, hold for a few seconds, then relax completely. Again, aim for 3 sets of 10 repetitions. Heel Slides: Lying on your back, slowly slide one heel away from you, keeping your core engaged to prevent your back from arching, then slide it back. This helps build core control without straining. Beyond these specific moves, here are some crucial tips for anyone embarking on this journey: Listen to Your Body: This isn't about pushing through pain. If something hurts, stop. Your recovery is unique. Seek Professional Guidance: Ideally, consult with a women's health physical therapist. They can assess your specific needs, especially for Diastasis Recti, and guide you safely. Patience and Consistency: Healing takes time. Consistency with even short exercise sessions is more effective than sporadic intense workouts. Don't get discouraged if progress feels slow. Hydration and Nutrition: Fueling your body properly is vital for energy and tissue repair, especially if you're breastfeeding. Integrate Movement into Your Day: Even short walks or gentle stretching can make a difference. Finding time as a new mom is tough, so be creative! Remember, this is not just about getting your 'old body back'; it's about building a stronger, healthier you for the long run. My own journey taught me that small, consistent steps lead to significant improvements. Embrace where you are now, celebrate every little victory, and know that you're doing something wonderful for yourself. It really is never too late to begin feeling better and regaining your strength from the inside out.

Life doesn’t follow one timeline. You can fail, restart, change careers, struggle, and still succeed. 🚀 Success isn’t about doing it all perfectly or on schedule — it’s about refusing to give up on yourself. Whether you’re 21, 35, or 45, you can always start again. 👉 Remember: failure isn’t t

I don’t think it’s ever too late to become a nurse. Nursing was actually my second career. I originally worked in marine science, and it’s a very long story how I ended up deciding to go back to school. I did an accelerated BSN since I already had a degree, and my classmates were in their 20s, 30s,

If you feel too old to start over — read this.
You look around and it feels like everyone else has it figured out. They’re stable. They’re settled. They’re “ahead.” And you? You’re staring down the possibility of starting over — and it terrifies you. But here’s what no one tells you: starting over isn’t failure. It’s freedom. #LifeR
