♒Aquarius– Notes on a Mini Rose
I found this mini rose by accident, at a small Chinese farm in the GTA.
They mostly sell vegetables and fishing bait, not flowers.
A few pots of mini roses sat quietly by the side — and one was called Aquarius.
Its flowers are red and white, a familiar combination.
You see similar color patterns in roses like Sentimental, Rainbow Niagara, or Edouard Manet.
They’re not rare, not dramatic, but always easy to grow.
My Aquarius rose has no fragrance at all.
But once planted in the ground, it shows its strength —
constant blooms, low maintenance, no fuss.
It grows in a spot with very limited sunlight,
yet every year it still flowers faithfully, doing its small part in the garden.
Sometimes, mini roses just need a little more space and time.
Not only the famous ones deserve a place in the backyard.
