OC Drawing Evolution!!
Posted her evolution here. Her name's Kixxi, btw.
Took so long to do this, and I finally managed to color in a whole page. >_<
I'd say she's come a long way, but I have a few more ideas for her. >_<
Creating an original character like Kixxi has been such a journey, and I wanted to share a bit more about my process and how she came to life! When I first started, I knew I wanted a demon-like girl, but giving her a unique personality and visual appeal was the real challenge. It wasn't just about drawing horns and sharp teeth; it was about making her feel alive. For Kixxi's character design, I really focused on her key traits. Her vibrant orange hair wasn't just a random choice; it symbolizes her fiery, mischievous spirit. I wanted to balance her demon roots with a playful demeanor. That's why you see her with pointed ears and those distinct horns – they ground her in her demonology-inspired origins, but her expressions, like playfully biting her finger or a cheeky wink, show her lighter side. I often think, 'How would Kixxi react?' when I'm drawing her, trying to capture that blend of charming and a little bit dangerous. One of the most fun aspects was developing her expressions. You see her smiling with sharp teeth, and even saying things like 'The Next Human Is Mine!' or 'It's Mating Season Soon!' – these aren't meant to be truly menacing, but rather hint at her playful, almost teasing nature. She's a demon, but she's not necessarily evil; she's more about having fun and maybe a little bit of mischief. This 'biter' trait, like playfully biting her finger, is a small detail that adds so much to her character, making her feel more dynamic and less one-dimensional. When it comes to drawing an OC, especially for girl character designs, I've learned that consistency is key, but so is allowing for evolution. Kixxi didn't look like this overnight! My early sketches were much rougher, and I experimented with different horn shapes, hair lengths, and clothing styles until I found what truly resonated with her personality. It's a continuous process of refining and adding details. Don't be afraid to let your character change as you get to know them better through your art. If you're thinking about creating your own OC, my biggest tip is to start with a strong concept for their personality and backstory. Even if it's just a few bullet points, it helps guide your visual choices. Think about how their physical traits, like hair color or horn shape, can reflect who they are inside. For example, Kixxi's sharp teeth aren't just for show; they're a nod to her 'biter' side, hinting at a playful predation. And if you're aiming for a profile picture (pfp), focus on clear expressions and strong silhouettes that stand out, just like Kixxi's distinct features do. I hope seeing Kixxi's journey inspires you in your own drawing process! It's incredibly rewarding to watch a character grow from an idea into a fully realized design.
