Organizing Student Notion Life Using Callouts

Knowing Notion is one thing, but using Notion for your lifestyle is totally different and a lot more difficult. Let me help you organize your Notion Life with one of the most unique elements, “Callouts”

——————————————————————————

📝 [What Is A Callout?]

——————————————————————————

As a summary, a callout is a simple box to act as a section to separate different areas of information. Although they don’t seem like much though, they are one of the most diverse and biggest organizational tools in Notion.

——————————————————————————

📝 [Adding A Callout]

——————————————————————————

1🍋 To add a callout, simply type “/callout” on an empty line

- you can add callouts inside callouts too!

2🍋 Next click on the button saying “callout”

- this will make a box with the first text to input as the title

——————————————————————————

📓 [Features Using Callouts]

——————————————————————————

1🍋 Callouts have many different features! Click on the 6 dots on the side of the callout element to edit it

2🍋 One of the most important editing features is the “Color” element as you can design colors for different types of sections and make the callout stand out.

- my favorite is orange 🍊

-also most of the time you only want to change the background color, not the text color

3🍋 You can also edit the little emoji on the side of your callout. Click on it to show the menu and then click on the emoji or icon you want to use

- I find that the icons work better than the emojis in general cases since you can match them to go with the callout (and they look clean)

——————————————————————————

⏰ [Secret Callout Tips]

——————————————————————————

- Although they aren’t too game changing, these are some quick tips that people might miss with making your callout a little better

1🍋You can make your Callout Titles stand out more by highlighting it, then underlining and holding it

- just gives it that little extra boost

2🍋 Sometimes when trying to type commands in a callout, it doesn’t work. Also sometimes when you try to go to the next line from the title of the callout, it takes you out the callout. This is because Notion thinks you’re still trying to type in the title where commands can’t be added. To fix this, take an empty command line (just an empty line) and drag it into your callout

- make sure to type in this new space in your callout and not in the title

——————————————————————————

⏰ [Example Of Uses With Callouts]

——————————————————————————

1🍋 There are tons of uses for your Callouts. One examples is to put a to do list in a callout to separate it as its own section.

- also adding a divider line right below the title and putting everything below that line makes the callout a bit cleaner

2🍋 You can also add time and dates into a callout as an event planner

3🍋 You can make class notes in the form of adding a collection of toggle lists into a callout with information for them

4🍋 Like to add quotes to your Notion? Putting a Quote inside a callout makes it super ✨Aesthetic✨

5🍋 As a very important tip, adding databases to callouts immediately makes them look 10x better.

- make sure to hide the database title though and instead use the callout title for the title

... Read moreNotion is a versatile tool that can transform the way students organize their academic life. Callouts serve as a powerful feature, allowing users to create visually distinct sections for different types of information. To maximize productivity, consider using callouts for class schedules, study plans, or project timelines. For instance, you can create a dedicated callout for upcoming deadlines, ensuring that you stay on top of your assignments. Moreover, integrating colors and icons into your callouts can enhance visual appeal and clarity. Students can use these customizations to categorize their sections, such as using green for study materials, yellow for deadlines, and blue for project notes. This not only makes your Notion workspace more aesthetically pleasing but also aids in quickly locating specific information. Additionally, leveraging callouts for personal notes or reminders can streamline your workflow. To further enhance your Notion setup, consider exploring third-party Notion templates that are designed for students. These templates often come preformatted with suggested layouts, making it easier to get started and stay organized. Remember, the goal of using Notion effectively is to create a personalized system that works best for your workflow and helps you achieve your academic goals.
