I’ve been doing these for years and feel like they make great keepsakes for the parents but also it can make them feel like their baby isn’t just another patient but is special. It’s so hard as nurses to remember that these moments are hard and completely unique for these parents and it’s a time they will remember forever. For us it’s just another day but when I can make a cute craft for them especially if it is specialized to be related to what the parents like, the baby’s nursery theme or the baby’s name then it is even more heartwarming. I don’t always get time to make these for every patient but when I can it’s a few minutes of my time and a lifetime of memories for them.
