... Read moreAs a working mom, I know firsthand how challenging the summer months can be when kids are out of school for an extended break. The feeling captured in the phrase "POV: when you realize you're kids out of school for summer break" really resonates with me. It often starts with excitement, but as the days stretch on, balancing work duties and managing kids’ energy becomes overwhelming. One strategy I've found helpful is creating a loose daily schedule that mixes independent play, outdoor time, and simple chores. Keeping kids somewhat engaged gives me the mental space to focus on work without constant interruptions. However, flexibility remains key because kids can be unpredictable. Another aspect is the emotional toll. Moms often feel guilty about splitting time between work and quality moments with their children. I make a point to celebrate small victories and find joy in everyday moments, like playing board games or watching movies in the evening. Connecting with other moms going through similar experiences can provide much-needed support and practical advice. Social media groups and community forums often share relatable stories and tips, reminding us we’re not alone in the challenges of balancing #momlife and work. Ultimately, surviving the long summer means embracing imperfection, setting realistic expectations, and prioritizing wellbeing for both ourselves and our children.
