Beyond biology, Ca2+ is important in environmental chemistry, influencing water hardness, impacting industrial processes, and even affecting soil quality for agriculture. Understanding the diverse roles of Ca2+ can highlight why balanced dietary intake and proper physiological regulation of calcium are essential for optimal health.
