Firstly, religions aren't outdated. So long as the problems apply to today, any problem whatsoever, it applies. This idea that the Bible has been mistranslated is blown out of proportion. The translations we have are actually incredibly accurate, and if you don't believe it then you can see the word for word translations of the Hebrew, Latin, and Greek (all three have full versions of the Old testament and have been around since before AD Why politicians are able to bring religion into their policies? Because politicians also represent what people want for their state and gov, and some of those people want religious things. If that's what the majority votes for, then that's what should be in office. Because that's accurate representation of the populations wants Separation of church and state is not in the constitution. The constitution says people are free to practice any religion though! And if you don't care for that don't vote it. That's kinda how a democratic republic works.
