The legend of the paper bird (Senbazuru) is the Japanese belief that if 1,000 cranes were folded with a pure heart, the prayer would come true, which became a symbol of peace and hope from the death of "Sadako Sasaki," a girl sick of the atomic bomb radiation in Hiroshima, by which she folded the bird to be healed and survived.
