Yubu Bridge (Old Yubu Railway Bridge)
Amarube Railway Bridge "Sora no Eki" Observation Facility: At the observatory where the three piers of the old railway bridge remain, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Sea of Japan from a height of about 40 meters.
Amarube Crystal Tower: This is a fully glass-enclosed elevator that connects the ground and the Sky Station. It can be used free of charge, and you can enjoy the thrilling scenery for about 45 seconds during the ascent.
Roadside Station Amarube: Located right under the bridge, local specialties and specialty "Kasumi Gani Burger" are sold.
Observation Hours: Observation facilities and elevators are available from 6: 00 to 21: 30 (open every day, free of charge).

余部鉄橋はただの観光名所ではなく、過去の歴史や技術の進化を感じられる場所です。私も訪れた際にはまず「空の駅」展望施設へ直行しました。旧鉄橋の橋脚3本を残した展望台は高さ40mからの眺望が素晴らしく、晴れた日には日本海の広大なパノラマが目の前に広がります。 私が特に感動したのは「余部クリスタルタワー」という全ガラス張りのエレベーターです。地上と展望台を結び、昇る間は約45秒でスリル満点。展望台に上る前の期待感を高めてくれました。この施設は無料で利用でき、老若男女問わずおすすめできます。 また、展望台の下にある「道の駅あまるべ」では、新鮮な地元特産品や名物の香住ガニバーガーが味わえます。私も訪問時に食べてみましたが、カニの風味が濃厚でとても美味しく、旅の良い思い出になりました。 夜間にはライトアップも行われており、昼間とは違った幻想的な雰囲気が楽しめます。特に季節ごとのライトアップは訪れる価値大です。 歴史的には1986年に発生した列車転落事故があり、その教訓から安全対策が施されて現在のコンクリート橋に架け替えられています。この事故の記憶を風化させないためにも、現地には事故の歴史説明があり、訪れる人に安全の重要性を伝えています。 写真撮影にはGoProを使う人が多いのも特徴です。私もGoProで撮影しましたが、橋の断崖上のダイナミックな映像が簡単に撮れ、SNSでシェアしたところ多くの反響がありました。余部鉄橋は美しい景色と歴史、そして新旧の技術が融合した貴重なスポットなので、ぜひ一度訪れてその魅力を体感してみてください。
