... Read moreIt’s truly amazing to look back at my journey and realize I’ve finally achieved this milestone – graduating at 26 with a Bachelor's in Psychology! For anyone out there thinking it's too late, please know it absolutely isn't. My 'CLASS OF 2024' stole feels like a badge of honor, not just for the degree, but for the perseverance it took to get here.
I remember vividly my high school days, feeling completely lost, not knowing my path. There were moments of struggle, and frankly, I never imagined myself as someone who would graduate with honors. Life took many turns, and for a while, education wasn't my priority. But deep down, there was always a spark, a desire to learn and grow. It wasn't until I truly embraced self-motivation that things started to shift.
The decision to enroll back in school at an older age felt daunting. I worried about being older than my classmates, about juggling responsibilities, and if my brain could still handle rigorous academics. But I took that leap. My 'Moment of Transparency' is this: it was tough, requiring immense discipline and often late nights, but every single effort was worth it. I learned to manage my time efficiently, setting clear goals and celebrating small victories along the way. Don't underestimate your own potential – it’s far greater than you think.
For anyone considering going back to school or pursuing a degree later in life, here are a few things that helped me. First, find your 'why.' What truly drives you? For me, it was a passion for understanding human behavior, which led me to Psychology. Second, build a support system. Whether it's friends, family, or online communities, having people who believe in you makes a huge difference. Third, embrace flexibility. Online courses, evening classes, or part-time studies can make education accessible even with a busy schedule. Finally, don't be afraid to ask for help, whether from professors, tutors, or academic advisors. They are there to support your success.
Seeing myself in my cap and gown, with my red hair flowing, posing proudly on that staircase railing in my black dress and white shirt, truly brought tears to my eyes. This isn't just about a piece of paper; it's about proving to myself that I can overcome any obstacle if I truly commit. It's about pursuing passions without giving up, no matter how long the road may seem. If my story encourages even one person to pick up that textbook or apply for that program they've been dreaming of, then every '26 years and 6 months after' moment was worth it. It’s never too late to invest in yourself and your future. Keep going!
Soooo proud of you sis!!🥰❤️
