First read is indie author only September!

This month I'm reading only indie authors to help support a couple local indie authors and find some new ones to support. I'm challenging myself to read at least 6 books this month. Wish me luck and comment if you want to join!

... Read moreOkay, fellow bookworms, get ready because I've officially kicked off my 'Indie Author Only September' challenge, and I couldn't be more excited! My goal is to read at least six books from independent authors this month, and I'm already deep into my first pick. It's truly a thrilling experience to dive into new worlds crafted by visionary writers who might not have the massive marketing budgets of traditional publishers. My inaugural read for this challenge, thanks to a fun poll over on Instagram, is none other than 'Flame Cursed Fae Book One: Of Blades and Wings' by Eliza Raine. Just looking at the cover, with its striking imagery of a spear, golden elements, and delicate yet fierce feathers, I knew I was in for an adventure. The title itself, 'Of Blades and Wings,' promises a blend of action and perhaps some magical or fantastical elements, which instantly appealed to my love for adult fantasy. And let me tell you, this book has already started to pull me in! There's nothing quite like the feeling of getting completely 'stuck inside an adult fantasy novel.' You know what I mean, right? When the world-building is so intricate, the characters so compelling, and the stakes so high that you forget where you are and just live within the pages. That's the magic I'm hoping to find more of in the 'Flame Cursed Fae series.' Eliza Raine has done an incredible job so far of building a world that feels both ancient and alive, with mysteries lurking around every corner. One of the main reasons I'm so passionate about supporting indie authors like Eliza Raine is the sheer diversity of storytelling. Without the constraints of mainstream publishing trends, these authors often explore unique narratives and push boundaries in ways that are incredibly refreshing. It's a chance to discover genuinely fresh voices and support creators directly. Finding a new book authors name that resonates with you is like finding a new favorite artist – it enriches your reading life immensely. I’m always on the lookout for authors who can craft a narrative that makes me forget my own reality for a little while, and it feels like I’ve found a strong contender here. I’m only a few chapters in, but the journey through 'Flame Cursed Fae Book One' is already proving to be a fantastic start to my September. The plot is unfolding with a gripping pace, and I can already sense the intricate relationships and power struggles that define great adult fantasy. If you're looking for a new series to immerse yourself in, or if you're curious about what makes indie fantasy so special, I highly recommend checking out Eliza Raine and her 'Flame Cursed Fae' world. I can't wait to see where the blades and wings take me next, and I'll definitely be sharing updates on my progress and other indie finds throughout the month!
