If You Need Accommodations at Work, Read This

You don’t need another sign. You need to decide you’re worth investing in.

For a long time, I thought working harder was the answer.

I kept pushing.

I kept showing up.

I kept trying to fit into spaces that were never built for me.

I was passionate about helping others… but I was exhausted from constantly putting myself last.

I had built careers helping kids, advocating for people with disabilities, and supporting others through hard moments.

But behind the scenes?

I was struggling.

My health was changing.

My needs were not being met.

I was afraid of what my future would look like.

I remember wondering…

“Is this really all I’m capable of?”

“Will I always have to fight for a life that works for me?”

“Can I create something different?”

That’s when I realized something:

The biggest investment I could make wasn’t just in a product.

It was in ME.

My education.

My skills.

My growth.

My future.

Starting an online business was scary. I worried about failing. I worried about what people would think. I worried about spending money on myself.

But staying stuck had a cost too.

I decided I would rather learn, grow, and give myself a chance than keep wondering “what if?”

Now I’m building something that allows me to work around my health, use my accommodations, spend more time with the people I love, and create a future that actually fits my life.

This isn’t about overnight success.

It’s about becoming the person who is ready for the next level.

If you’re someone who knows you’re capable of more…

If you’re tired of feeling stuck…

If you’re ready to learn, invest, and build something different…

Maybe your next chapter starts with believing you’re worth the investment. 🤍

Your dream life won’t come from waiting for the “perfect” time.

It comes from choosing yourself.

... Read moreNavigating accommodations at work can feel overwhelming, but taking control starts with recognizing your own worth and needs. From my personal experience, openly communicating with your employer about what support you require is essential. Whether it's flexible hours, assistive technologies, or modified duties, these adjustments can dramatically improve your productivity and well-being. One thing I learned is that asking for accommodations is not a sign of weakness but a vital step toward sustainable success. It’s important to document your needs clearly and, when appropriate, involve HR or supervisors in a collaborative discussion to find effective solutions. Remember, accommodations are there to create an equitable work environment—not to give unfair advantages. Investing in your skills and growth, as the article suggests, is a powerful way to boost your confidence and open new opportunities. Online courses, networking with like-minded professionals, and exploring entrepreneurship can offer flexible avenues that align with your health and goals. Also, maintaining self-care routines, including hydration and mindful practices, plays a crucial role in managing health challenges at work. For instance, staying hydrated can improve focus and energy—something easily overlooked when pushing through exhaustion. Ultimately, choosing to prioritize yourself and your accommodations paves the way for a balanced career and life. Embrace your journey by taking small, consistent steps toward the changes you desire. Your worth is not defined by how hard you push but by how well you honor your needs and invest in your future.
