Why you keep quitting journaling
Every time I hear someone say, “I just can’t stick with journaling,” I want to ask one question:
Who told you there were rules?
Somewhere along the way, journaling got dressed up like it was applying to Harvard. It had to be insightful. Beautiful. Life-changing. Preferably written in perfect handwriting while sipping tea next to a rainy window.
Meanwhile, real life looks more like, “Forgot my laundry in the washer again.”
Good.
Write that.
Because the habit isn’t built by waiting until you have something profound to say. It’s built by proving to yourself that showing up can be ridiculously simple.
One sentence counts.
Half a page counts.
Stopping because your kid just yelled, “MOOOOM!” absolutely counts.
The easier you make it to begin, the more likely you are to come back tomorrow.
If you want a ridiculously simple way to start journaling without staring at a blank page wondering if you’re “doing it right,” I made a guide for exactly that. Wander over to my profile and steal yourself a copy.
