If you're playing as a Dark Urge character, this transformation is an absolute game-changer. I remember the first time I embraced it – the sheer raw power was intimidating but exhilarating! Becoming the Slayer grants you some seriously beefy resistances and incredible melee attacks. You get Advantage on Attack Rolls, extra damage, and resistance to most damage types, making you a tanky, damage-dealing machine. It's perfect for those moments when you need to turn the tide of a difficult battle. However, it's not without its drawbacks. While in Slayer Form, you can't cast spells or use certain items, and your healing options become limited. So, knowing when to unleash this beast is key. I've found it most effective when my main spellcasters are out of position or low on spell slots, or when I need to quickly burst down a high-priority target. Pair it with companions who can buff you or provide crowd control, and you'll feel unstoppable! Now, onto Custom Companions. While I absolutely adore the main cast of BG3 characters—Astarion is a personal favorite!—sometimes you just want to experiment with a unique party composition or role-play a specific dynamic. That's where custom companions shine! You can create them using a little trick in multiplayer (even if you're playing solo, just start a co-op game, create extra characters, save, and then load that save in single-player), or by hiring hirelings from Withers at your camp. I've personally used this to create a dedicated support cleric when my main character was a rogue, or a specific multiclass barbarian/fighter that I knew would synergize perfectly with my build. It lets you fill gaps in your party, explore niche builds, or just have a character whose personality you can fully control. For instance, I once created a custom Oathbreaker Paladin purely for RP reasons, and it added a whole new layer to my story. Experimenting with these features has made my latest BG3 playthrough feel fresh and exciting.
