Instead of drastically cutting food intake, a moderate deficit allows your body to retain muscle mass. I personally experienced that maintaining compound lifts like squats, deadlifts, and bench presses with slightly reduced volume but consistent intensity helped me keep my strength. Additionally, focusing on nutrient timing and adequate protein intake is crucial. Eating enough protein supports muscle repair and growth despite the caloric restriction. Hydration and sleep quality also play significant roles in recovery, which ultimately impacts strength maintenance. A balanced mindset is equally important. Rather than stressing over temporary dips in performance, I focused on gradual progress and listening to my body. This created a healthy relationship with fitness that values both aesthetics and functional strength. Remember: strength doesn't have to go down on a cut. With motivation, proper training, nutrition, and rest, you can find the balance between achieving your physique goals and maintaining the power to perform in the gym.
