Getting off my art block

6/3 Edited to

... Read moreArt block can feel like a tough wall to break through, but I've found that changing my environment often helps. When I experience that frustrating pause in creativity, I like to step away from my usual workspace and visit a local gallery or simply take a walk outdoors to gather inspiration from nature and everyday life. Another helpful strategy is to experiment with different artistic mediums or styles. For instance, if I usually paint, trying sketching or digital art adds a fresh perspective, making the process enjoyable and less pressured. This variation can stimulate new ideas and motivate me to create again. Also, setting small, achievable goals rather than overwhelming myself with expectations has been key. Instead of aiming for a masterpiece right away, I focus on simple doodles or quick sketches. This reduces the fear of failure and keeps the momentum going. Engaging with fellow artists and communities through hashtags like #artwork and #artistic, which I noticed are commonly used, can provide support and inspiration. Sharing progress and challenges helps build motivation and accountability. Finally, embracing the imperfections during this period, rather than forcing perfection, is crucial. Art block is a natural part of the creative process, and sometimes simply allowing yourself to rest and reflect can lead to breakthroughs that feel more organic and authentic.

For years I’ve been struggling to have any motivation to draw. I can draw for short bursts and just stop for months and the longest 2 years. I know social media doesn’t help I’ve always struggled to have a following or have my art be seen. ;; #helptheprocess #sharemyart #drawing #artblo

NAVIGATING THROUGH ART BLOCK
Like all artists, I’ve dealt with my fair share of art block. My latest run was a whopping 2 years! A fool proof solution is to just draw a silly little self portrait. While stuck in the hospital, my mom brought me some art supplies and I picked up a box of crayons from the dollar tree near by. I
