Orchids are famously tricky: they bloom beautifully once, then go into a long rest period. Overwatering caused root rot the first time I tried to pamper mine, so now I adhere to a strict watering schedule. Overall, these plants may be dramatic, but their striking appearances and personalities make the extra effort worthwhile.
