The hardest and rewarding part of being a CNA

I’ve been a CNA give or take about 6 years and there’s been some ups and downs about it just like any other job, but let me tell you this. The hardest part of being a CNA or any member of healthcare is losing the patients that we build the closest bonds with and seeing them struggle while we try to comfort, seeing them take their last breath, comforting their families, and doing the absolute most like pouring our hearts and souls into our residents is the hardest thing to do. The rewarding part though is knowing that we helped them or if you work in rehab and see that patients get back onto their feet, they have you to thank for. Especially the encouragement, the support, and the comfort that you may bring. Every patient may not be an easy patient but that’s ok because no one is perfect. Everyone has a story, so let’s start with yours. Hey guys I’m Corey and it’s an honor to meet every single one of you guys. Just know I may take care of your loved one, one day, and I can and will ensure you, I’ll do anything and everything in my power for them. Like I do for my current patients. Thank you for letting me share and post for this challenge and a little introduction. May your days be bright and filled with peace and joy, God bless🙏#healthcare #lemon8challenge #cnalife #snapshotofme #patientadvocacy

... Read moreBeing a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) encompasses both difficult and fulfilling experiences. CNAs often form close relationships with patients, which can lead to deep emotional struggles, especially in times of loss. Witnessing patients' final moments and providing comfort to their families is among the toughest challenges faced in this role. However, the rewarding aspect lies in the difference CNAs make in their patients' lives. Celebrating small victories, such as helping someone regain mobility in rehabilitation, showcases the profound impact CNAs have on recovery journeys. Moreover, each patient presents a unique story and experience, reminding CNAs of the value of empathy and heart in caregiving. Community forums highlight experiences from various healthcare professionals dealing with similar pressures, emphasizing the importance of self-care and support systems in this demanding yet rewarding job. This insight can provide encouragement to those considering a career as a CNA or feeling overwhelmed in their current role. Ultimately, the stories and challenges faced by CNAs invite future healthcare workers to understand the depth of patient care and the significant influence they hold in their patients' lives.
