An Open Letter to the Car Community

Drop the Ego, Lift Each Other Up

Let’s get real for a second. When did the car scene turn into a competition over who checks the “right” boxes? The “right” brand, the “right” horsepower, the “right” modifications—or, heaven forbid, the audacity to daily drive your build. Somewhere along the way, we forgot that we’re all here for the same reason: the love of cars.

It doesn’t matter if you’re pushing four cylinders or eight, if your ride is built or stock, if your project is a decade deep or just rolling off the lot. It doesn’t matter if you scrape on every speed bump or still have factory ground clearance. You are a car person. That should be enough.

Instead of tearing each other down over spec sheets and brand loyalty, maybe—just maybe—we could respect each other. Because at the end of the day, we all know what it’s like to catch that sideways glance at a gas station, to have a stranger strike up a conversation about our cars, to feel that rush of pride when we turn the key. That’s what matters.

Gatekeeping doesn’t make you cool. Trash talk doesn’t make you faster. And flexing your wallet over someone else’s budget build? That’s just embarrassing.

So let’s bring the car community back to being an actual community. One where we appreciate anyone who shares the passion, whether they’re rocking a 1000hp monster or a bone-stock daily with big dreams. Because the real ones know—it’s not about what you drive, it’s about why you drive.

... Read moreIn recent years, the automotive community has seen a shift towards division, often fueled by discussions around horsepower and modifications. However, it’s essential to remember that every car enthusiast shares a common love for vehicles. Whether you're driving a powerful sports car or a modified daily driver, the passion for cars should unite us rather than create unnecessary rifts. Car culture thrives on diversity, with individuals expressing their passion in various ways. Events like car shows and meetups are perfect opportunities to celebrate this diversity. They serve as platforms for enthusiasts to connect, share knowledge, and appreciate each other's rides, no matter the make or model. Moreover, embracing inclusivity within the community fosters growth and innovation. When we support one another, we encourage new enthusiasts to join, leading to a richer culture. Mentorship can play a significant role here; seasoned enthusiasts can share insights with newcomers, helping them appreciate the nuances of car maintenance and modification. Let’s also not overlook social media’s impact on car culture. Platforms can either enhance community engagement or promote harmful comparisons. It's crucial to use these platforms responsibly, highlighting achievements and personal stories while avoiding toxic rivalry. Sharing experiences—be it restoration projects, road trips, or track days—can inspire others and reignite the communal spirit we once had. Ultimately, the automobile community is about shared experiences and mutual respect. By choosing to uplift one another, we can transform our local scenes into welcoming spaces for all. Remember, it’s not just about what you drive, but the journey we share together in our love for cars.
