Halloween family traditions?

Halloween means everything to me and my family.

I have been so excited to start annual traditions with my son and husband that will create core memories for him someday.

Obviously we are going to take him to ALL the pumpkin patches, festivities, and events that we can for the season but we also like to make it magical at home! Here are a few traditions we are starting this year and would like to continue for his childhood ☺️

1) ALL the spooky cute outfits. I love thrifting and finding Halloween costumes and outfits throughout the year so we can wear them all of September and October. I’m hoping to keep at least one pair each year for him to pass down to his children one day and start the same tradition.

2) Nothing beats that warm nostalgic feeling of delicious fall treats being baked fresh from scratch and you can smell it coming in from being outside in the crisp fall air. Baking and cooking from scratch is a love language to me. I’m hoping my son will have memories of mommy making his favorite warm treats as soon as the weather gets chilly

3) So many Halloween reads! We have a TON of gifted Halloween board books that we read throughout the year but some I’ve saved for his first Halloween! The cloth book pictured is a homemade gem I found while thrifting. Reading “spooky” stories to bed every night during the season is one of the traditions I’m looking most forward to starting

4) I am NOT crafty. I’m just not good at them. But I’ll be darned if I’m not going to do some fun creative crafts with my baby! My page has a step by step tutorial on how to create this pumpkin! I’m so looking forward to pulling out all his little crafts from childhood one day and showing him how little his tiny feet and hands were 🥹🥹

Do you love Halloween? Do you have any unique or fun things you do as tradition every year? Let me know in the comments below ⬇️

... Read moreHalloween is a cherished time for families to come together and create memories that last a lifetime. Families often engage in activities that bring joy and excitement to both children and adults. One beloved tradition is visiting pumpkin patches, where families can select the perfect pumpkins to carve or decorate. This hands-on activity not only provides fun but also nurtures creativity. Baking is another fantastic way to celebrate Halloween, with families coming together in the kitchen to whip up festive treats. From pumpkin spice cookies to caramel apples, creating delicious goodies can enhance the bonding experience. It's an excellent opportunity to involve little ones in cooking, helping them learn valuable skills while enjoying quality time together. Reading Halloween-themed stories is a great way to spark a love for books and storytelling. Incorporating fun themes in literature during the season makes bedtime engaging and exciting for children. Parents can build anticipation for Halloween by introducing stories about friendly ghosts and whimsical witches, stimulating their imagination. For those with a knack for crafting, Halloween is the perfect occasion to create decorations and costumes. Crafting allows family members to express their creativity and work together on projects, which leads to unique creations that can be shared each year. Community events, like trick-or-treating or local Halloween festivals, also create opportunities for families to connect with neighbors and friends, fostering community spirit. Engaging in activities together helps nurture family bonds during a season filled with joy and discovery.
