BMA Storage Krathong 2025 24% Drop Top Use 82.76% Natural Material Loi Krathong Online 23,347 Leaves

Bangkok's spokesman, Ekwuru Amrapal, revealed that Bangkok, by the Environment Bureau, the Drainage Bureau and all 50 district offices, has been storing 110 krathons taken by the public at Loi Krathong Festival for 2025 throughout Bangkok, with storage starting at 8: 00 p.m. on November 5 until completion by 5: 00 a.m. on November 6.

Bangkok can store 391,027 cases, down about 24% from the previous year, with 323,626 cases of natural materials, 82.76 cases of foam, 28,298 cases, 7.23 percent, and 39,103 cases of bread, 10.01 percent.

Compared with two-year retrospective statistics,

* In 2024, 514,590 leaves were collected (natural materials, 98.39 per cent).

* In 2023, 639,828 leaves were collected (natural materials, 96.74 per cent).

It shows that the number of cockerel tends to decrease steadily.

For Loi Krathong Online, which Bangkok held for the second year through the website greener.bangkok.go.th in the virtual atmosphere of 34 parks and along the Chao Phraya River on Icon Siam, 23,347 people attended, according to a 2024 record of 36,832.

Bangkok has implemented the planned storage of krathong so that waste does not remain in the water supply. The area of responsibility is divided as follows:

The krathong collected from the Chao Phraya River will be conveyed to the mouth of the canal, the city area, and the warehouse terminal. The Ministry of Commerce, the district of Rat Restoration, to classify materials. The krathong made of natural materials will be crushed and forwarded to the Nong Nam Organic Fertilizer Plant. In addition, Bangkok has opened 33 parks in 21 areas to allow people to float the cockerel until 10: 00 p.m., as well as 110 areas open to float on water terminals, harbors, pontoons, and private areas. It has campaigned for the use of natural materials and the use of bread and foam cockerels because they cause an impact on the swamp ecosystem, which is closed. The cockerel is easy and can have harmful colors for fish. It also reduces the amount of oxygen in the water, negatively affecting aquatic life and the ecosystem as a whole.
