ในช่วงฤดูร้อนซึ่งอากาศร้อนจัดในกรุงเทพฯ เพิ่มความเสี่ยงต่อสุขภาพของประชาชน โดยเฉพาะกลุ่มผู้สูงอายุ เด็กเล็ก และผู้ที่ออกกำลังกายกลางแจ้ง การมีสถานที่ที่ช่วยหลบร้อนอย่าง ‘ห้องหลบร้อน (BKK Cooling Center)’ ในศูนย์กีฬาต่าง ๆ กลายเป็นจุดพักผ่อนที่มีประโยชน์มาก ๆ ผมได้เข้าใช้บริการห้องหลบร้อนที่ศูนย์กีฬาเบญจกิติมาแล้วรู้สึกดีมาก เพราะนอกจากจะมีเครื่องปรับอากาศที่เย็นสบายแล้ว ยังมีจุดให้น้ำดื่มสะอาดและมีเจ้าหน้าที่คอยดูแลช่วยเหลือเบื้องต้นหากเกิดอาการไม่สบายจากความร้อน เช่น ปวดหัวหรือหน้ามืด การลงทะเบียนเข้าใช้บริการง่ายเพียงมีบัตรประชาชนและใช้เวลาสั้น ๆ เท่านั้น สำหรับคนที่ต้องออกกำลังกายในช่วงกลางวัน การหยุดพักในศูนย์กีฬาห้องหลบร้อนจะช่วยลดความเสี่ยงของโรคลมแดดหรือภาวะเพลียแดดได้ นอกจากนี้ การรู้จักเกณฑ์เตือนภัย Heat Index ที่กรมอนามัยจัดไว้เป็นข้อมูลสำคัญยิ่ง ว่าควรหลีกเลี่ยงกิจกรรมกลางแจ้งเมื่ออุณหภูมิเกิน 33 องศาเซลเซียสเพื่อความปลอดภัย โดยรวมแล้วโปรแกรมนี้ช่วยให้ประชาชนในกรุงเทพฯ มีพื้นที่ปลอดภัยรับมือกับอากาศร้อนและช่วยลดผลกระทบต่อสุขภาพได้อย่างดี เป็นอีกหนึ่งแนวทางสำคัญที่ภาครัฐควรขยายและส่งเสริมให้ครอบคลุมมากขึ้น เพื่อความสุขและความปลอดภัยของทุกคนในเมืองใหญ่ที่เปลี่ยนแปลงสภาพอากาศบ่อยครั้งเช่นนี้
