When Professor Somsak of Chulalongkorn University studied the millipede and earthworm research program and, together with Professor Henrik Enghoff, an expert on the world's millipedes at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, found that it was a new type of millipede in the world and gave it the scientific name Desmoxytes purpurosea.

It was published in the 2007 journal Zootaxa. On May 23, 2008, the International Institute for Species Exploration (IISE), Arizona State University, USA, announced the pink dragon millipede as the third best discovery in the world, after the discovery of electric stingrays in Africa and the discovery of 75 million-year-old duck-billed dinosaur fossils in the United States, which were ranked 1st and 2nd respectively.

The discovery of the world's top pink dragon millipede created a reputation and a name for Thailand, showing that Thailand still has a lot of abundant resources.

The reason is called the pink dragon millipede, because it is in the family of dragon millipedes or paradoxosomatidae, and it has a bright pink color, and is characterized by dragon-like thorn patterns and buttons, found in the highly hydrated and fertile forests of the lower north from Tak, Nakhon, Heaven, and Uthani provinces.
