"Lumpu" and Subsistence in the Andaman Coastal Forest
Lumpu common name Green imperial pigeon scientific name
Living along evergreen forests, beach forests and mangroves, it is found along islands and forested areas in Southeast Asia, including Thailand, eating a variety of wild fruits and seeds.
Distinctive features are a larger body than a typical pigeon, glittering dark green feathers resembling metal on the back and wings, light gray face and belly, contrasting with an emerald green back, gorgeous looking, unique reverberation.
The return of the Lumpu in Khao Lampi National Park-Mine End Beach reflects the abundance of forests and the Andaman coast that provide a safe shelter for many rare birds and wildlife.
