i was so excited get my Beats for my birthday this year in July, however, after months of use… they literally KILL my ears. i noticed that they don’t cover my whole ears and fall in super awkward spots no matter the adjustments made.
so, i finally did it. after months and months of going back and forth on if it was worth the huge purchase.. i bit the bullet today.
i already love the full coverage they give my ears!!

After my experience with the Beats Solo 4, I realized that comfort isn't just a luxury – it's absolutely essential, especially when you're trying to find your inner calm. Those Beats, while sleek and stylish, just weren't cutting it for my meditation sessions. The on-ear design pressed directly on my ears, creating a constant distraction that made it impossible to truly relax and focus on my breathing or guided audio. It felt like a constant reminder that something was on my head, rather than a seamless extension of my peaceful space.
Many people wonder if Beats by Dre headphones are suitable for meditation. From my personal evaluation, specifically with the Solo 4 model, I'd have to say no, not if comfort and deep immersion are your priorities. While they deliver punchy sound for music, the physical discomfort from the pressure points was a deal-breaker for me. For meditation, you need headphones that disappear on your head, allowing you to slip into a state of tranquility without physical reminders. For some, perhaps a true over-ear Beats model might fare better, but the Solo 4's design for me created more stress than serenity.
That's why making the switch to my new dark-colored over-ear AirPods Max has been an absolute game-changer. From the moment I put them on, the difference was astounding. The full-ear coverage is incredibly plush and doesn't put any direct pressure on my ears, making them feel like a soft cloud. This allows me to wear them for extended periods without any discomfort, which is crucial for longer meditation practices or just when I need to block out the world for a bit. The noise cancellation is phenomenal, truly creating a quiet sanctuary around me, perfect for focusing on guided meditations or ambient nature sounds. I can finally achieve that deep focus I was craving.
When you're evaluating headphones for meditation, consider these key aspects. First, comfort is non-negotiable. Look for over-ear designs with soft, breathable earcups that don't clamp too tightly. Second, effective noise cancellation is vital to create an undisturbed environment. Third, consider the sound profile – a balanced, natural sound is usually preferred over heavy bass for meditation tracks. Finally, battery life matters if you plan on using them frequently. I even picked up a MOSISO case for my AirPods Max to keep them protected, because these are an investment in my peace of mind.
My journey from the initial excitement of the Beats Solo 4 to the ultimate zen with my AirPods Max taught me a valuable lesson: sometimes, the most popular choice isn't always the best fit for your specific needs. For anyone struggling to find that perfect pair for their meditation practice, I truly recommend prioritizing comfort and noise isolation above all else. My AirPods Max, seen here fresh out of their white box, have transformed my meditation routine for the better, and I couldn't be happier with my decision.
i have the AirPods Max as well in black as well, at first they were heavy but after wearing them for a while i’ve gotten used to them. plus i love the noise cancellation. i usually wear them to the gym or if traveling
I love mine, I never bought beats for that exact ear issue
