As someone who's on this path, I've found that a structured approach, like a 'Bible in a Year by Theme' plan, makes all the difference. It's not just about getting through the chapters; it's about connecting with God's Word in a meaningful way.
For January 2025, Week 2 (from January 6th to 12th) of my plan has been particularly insightful. We dove into passages like Genesis 4-7, Matthew 3-4, Joshua 6-10, Romans 3-4, Psalms 3-5, Job 3-4, and Isaiah 7-11. What I love about a thematic plan is how it weaves different books together to highlight a central message. This week's reflection theme was all about faith: "Faith is trusting in God's promises even when we can't see the outcome. This week, let's focus on growing deeper in trust and relying on God's Word to strengthen our faith."
Seeing how this theme played out across various parts of the Bible – the early stories of humanity in Genesis, the teachings of Jesus in Matthew, the challenges faced by Israel in Joshua, Paul's letters in Romans, the heartfelt pleas in Psalms, the trials of Job, and the prophetic messages of Isaiah – really brought it home. It's a powerful reminder that God's faithfulness is constant, regardless of the circumstances.
For my fellow #biblebeginner friends or anyone looking for #bibletips, here’s how I try to make my daily #biblereading impactful:
Find Your Rhythm: Don't stress if you miss a day. Just pick up where you left off. Consistency is great, but grace is better. I often find that starting my day with Scripture helps set a positive tone.
Engage with the Text: Don't just read words; ask questions. What is God revealing about Himself? What does this passage teach me about humanity? How can I apply this to my life today?
Journal Your Thoughts: This is huge for me! Writing down my reflections, especially on the weekly theme of trusting God's promises, helps solidify what I'm learning. It’s amazing to look back and see how my understanding has grown.
Pray Before and After: A simple prayer asking for understanding and wisdom can open your heart to receive God's message more clearly.
Don't Be Afraid to Re-read: Sometimes a passage just clicks on the second or third read. Take your time, especially with challenging books like Job or Isaiah.
This 'Bible in a Year by Theme' approach really helps me see the bigger picture and how different stories and teachings connect. If you're looking for a structured way to dive deeper into God's Word in 2025, I highly recommend finding a thematic plan that resonates with you. It’s been an incredible journey of growing deeper in trust and strengthening my faith!
