Dos and donāts of using retinolš«£š«£
One of my favorite go to products is retinol! Retinol is an ingredient that takes time to using and incorporating into your routine.
Dos:
- use a product that is not harsh on the skin with retinol, use something that will help with moisture and your skin barrier
Donāt:
- use another acid or harsh product that can irritate your skin, retinol is already harsh so you donāt want to use multiple harsh ingredients on your skin and damage it

Retinol is celebrated for its powerful benefits in treating acne, reducing wrinkles, and improving skin texture; however, it can be harsh if misused. To effectively incorporate retinol into your skincare routine, it's crucial to start with lower concentrations, ideally 0.5% or less, and gradually increase it as your skin adjusts. Hydration is key; pairing retinol with a good moisturizer can help alleviate dryness and irritation. Look for hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid or glycerin. When using retinol, it's important to avoid combining it with other potent actives such as AHAs or BHAs which can lead to over-exfoliation and irritation. Take special care during sunny days; retinol can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight, so always apply sunscreen during the day to protect your skin. Consistency is critical, but if you experience any severe irritation, it's wise to reduce frequency and consult a dermatologist. Adopting these practices can help you reap the full benefits of retinol while keeping your skin glowing and healthy.
