Skincare transformation from early 20s to mid 20s✨

I’m currently in my mid 20s, and here are some differences that I do in my skincare routine vs in my early 20s!🤭

My early 20s and before my skin was super oily and acne prone. Now I have more combo/ dry skin.

My current go to products:

- collagen serum

- thick moisturizer

- sunscreen

- retinol

Has your skin changed as you gotten older? Let me know what products you use!

... Read moreHey everyone! Watching your skin evolve through your 20s can be quite a journey, right? I've definitely noticed a significant shift from my early 20s to now in my mid-20s, and it's taught me so much about adapting my skincare routine. What worked for my super oily, acne-prone skin before just doesn't cut it for my current combo/dry complexion. But fear not, understanding these changes is the first step to maintaining a healthy, radiant glow! Let's dive a bit deeper into why our skin changes so much during this decade. In our early 20s, hormones might still be fluctuating, leading to breakouts and excess oil. But as we approach our mid to late 20s, things start to shift. Our natural collagen production, which keeps our skin plump and firm, begins to decline. Environmental factors, stress, and even lifestyle choices also play a huge role. This is why a simple routine focused on acne might need an upgrade to one that prioritizes prevention, hydration, and cellular renewal. One of the biggest game-changers for me has been incorporating a collagen banking serum. When I was younger, I thought collagen was only for much older skin, but learning that our natural stores start depleting in our mid-20s made me realize the importance of being proactive. This serum has helped maintain my skin's elasticity and bounce, making it feel much more resilient. It’s like putting money in a skin savings account for the future! Another significant swap was with my moisturizers. My early 20s self relied heavily on lightweight gel moisturizers to combat oiliness. They felt refreshing but eventually left my skin feeling a little tight as it became drier. Transitioning to a richer, thicker cream was a revelation. My skin now drinks it up, and it helps create a stronger skin barrier, locking in moisture and protecting against external aggressors. If you're noticing your skin feeling less hydrated, don't be afraid to try a creamier texture – it might be exactly what your skin is craving. And can we talk about sunscreen? If there's one product I'd scream from the rooftops about, it's this! In my early 20s, I was sporadic with SPF, mostly using it on sunny beach days. Now, it's a non-negotiable step every single morning, whether I'm indoors or out. Protecting your skin from harmful UV rays is the ultimate anti-aging secret. Look for broad-spectrum formulas with at least SPF 30, and remember to reapply throughout the day, especially if you're outdoors. My favorite purple bottle of sunscreen goes everywhere with me now, and it should for you too! Finally, introducing retinol or retinal has been another step forward in my mid-20s routine. These vitamin A derivatives are incredible for boosting cell turnover, improving skin texture, minimizing fine lines, and even helping with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. It’s important to start slow, maybe once or twice a week, to allow your skin to adjust. Always apply it at night and be extra diligent with your morning sunscreen application. It's a powerful ingredient that truly delivers results over time, but patience and consistency are key. Beyond products, remember that consistency is absolutely paramount. A simple, consistent routine beats an elaborate, sporadic one any day. Also, don't forget the basics: staying hydrated, getting enough sleep, and managing stress all contribute significantly to healthier skin. Your 20s are a fantastic time to build solid skincare habits that will benefit you for decades to come. What changes have you noticed in your skin during your 20s?
