I’m not following the order, following my healing

This week isn’t even next in my Bible study…

but it’s exactly what I need right now.

Forgiveness.

Not the easy kind.

Not the “I’m over it” kind.

The kind that still stings when you think about it.

The kind where you were right…

but God is still telling you to let it go.

And that’s the hard part.

Because everything in you wants to hold on—

to the pain, the memory, the “they were wrong.”

But holding on doesn’t punish them…

it poisons you.

It keeps you stuck in moments God already tried to free you from.

So no… I’m not following this study in order right now.

I’m following where the healing is.

And right now?

God is dealing with my heart.

Because forgiveness doesn’t mean what happened was okay.

It means I’m done carrying it.

I’m done replaying it.

I’m done letting it have access to my peace.

And maybe that’s what someone else needs to hear too…

You don’t have to carry it anymore.

Because real freedom?

It starts the moment you decide to release it. 🔥

3/22 Edited to

... Read moreForgiveness is often misunderstood as simply forgetting or excusing the hurt caused by others, but in reality, it’s a complex and deeply personal process that takes courage and faith. From my experience, one of the hardest parts is recognizing that forgiveness doesn’t mean what happened was okay—it means choosing to no longer let those past wounds control your present. The Bible study material from "The Bible in a Year" highlights how forgiveness is not only a command but a transformative practice that breaks cycles of bitterness and restores relationships. Verses like Ephesians 4:32, which instruct us to forgive as Christ forgave us, reinforced that this act isn't about minimizing the hurt but about extending grace and freeing ourselves from ongoing pain. I've found that forgiveness often feels like a step out of order in our healing journey—like skipping ahead in a study or ignoring the checklist—but in moments when my heart aches the most, that's exactly the direction I need to go. Holding onto resentment only prolongs suffering and restricts the peace God wants to give us. An important insight is that forgiveness is both a decision and a process. It's the decision to let go of carrying the pain, and the process of repeatedly choosing to release memories and bitterness that try to resurface. This aligns with the teaching in Psalm 103:12, which depicts God’s forgiveness as removing our transgressions as far as east is from west—an infinite distance symbolizing complete release. Personally, applying these truths meant confronting the tension between justice and grace. You can be right about the wrong done to you and still follow God’s call to forgive. This paradox challenges us to trust God with the outcome and to redefine strength not as holding on, but as letting go. For anyone struggling with forgiveness, I encourage you to see it not as giving in or forgetting, but as reclaiming your peace and freedom. Letting go frees your heart to heal and opens space for God’s grace to flow. Remember, like the flow of a stream that both receives and passes on water, we are called to be channels of forgiveness, not reservoirs storing bitterness. In the end, true freedom begins the moment we decide to release the burden. It’s a daily, sometimes hourly choice, but with each release, you move closer to experiencing the fullness of peace and healing that God desires for your life.
