From personal observation and hearing stories from men close to me, I’ve realized there’s a significant silence surrounding their struggles. Many men find it shameful or embarrassing to come forward due to social stigma or fear of not being believed. Men face unique challenges when they are victims of violence, including societal expectations to be strong and not show vulnerability. This can prevent them from seeking help or being taken seriously by authorities and support organizations. I’ve seen how some men experience violence from female partners, yet they hesitate to speak up because they anticipate ridicule or dismissal. It's vital that we expand the conversation on domestic violence to be inclusive, recognizing that all individuals—regardless of gender—can suffer abuse. By doing so, we create a more compassionate environment where every victim feels supported and validated. Encouraging awareness and resources for men could help break down the barriers of shame and silence. Through my reflections, I hope to shed light on this often overlooked perspective so we can foster empathy and ensure that no one’s suffering is minimized. True progress against domestic violence means addressing it universally, valuing every human heart equally, and standing against violence no matter who it affects.
